1)    Copy & Paste of Graphics and Text

“Copy & Paste” of text or pictures in RDP-session from a local to a remote computer (or vice versa) works by enabling “clipboard” in your RDP-client.

For details please see the screenshot below (the same applies for Microsoft RDP-Client):

1)    Copy & Paste of Files and Folders

File transfer via clipboard redirection on XP, Vista and Server 2003 is limited to the mounted remote drives and also requires disk redirection to be enabled in the RDP connection setup.

For details, how to configure, please see the screenshot below (the same applies for Microsoft RDP-Client):

Once the RDP-session is established, drives are redirected – files and/or folders can be copied between the local and remote computer.

Since Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 it is possible to copy any files or folders between local and remote computers without disk redirection, just by enabling “clipboard” redirection (see screenshot under point 1).
